Group therapy is the treatment of multiple patients at once. It can be used to treat a variety of conditions including but not limited to emotional trauma, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Groups can act as a support network and a sounding board. Other members of the group often help you come up with specific ideas for improving a difficult situation or life challenge. Regularly talking and listening to others also helps you put your own problems in perspective
Group music therapy promotes socialisation and communication. It also allows the participants to develop a sense of belonging and to see that they are not alone.
Improvisational psychodynamic music therapy is a largely non-directive, unstructured approach allowing the therapeutic process between the client and the therapist to spontaneously unfold as the session goes on.
